D1 auto pan and dipstick into a D2?

I have read it somewhere that you can fit a Discovery 1 automatic dipstick oil pan onto the Discovery 2.

Anyone know, done it or can confirm it?

Yep, just done it, mainly to extend the rear section to facilitate my ATF temp probe, with the dipstick a real bonus. Pans are the same profile and you (I think) use a D1 V8 dipstick, but subject to correction. We were going to bend the dipstick tube a bit and bracket it to the engine block, but its very solid as an original shape stand alone, so might just try leaving it as is. Make sure you keep the D1 sump plug - my D2a version was different. Also, don't lose your crud magnet. If I can get my act together, I'll do a couple of pics. Cheers

Does the D1 dispstick read the correct level for the D2's transmission?

While they were fixing the torque converter in the auto I asked them to fit the sump with dipstick.

They were unhappy where it came up and rubbing on the coolant tubes?

    So they didn't fit it.

Your's looks like what they were worried about. Had any Problems?

If you mean mine then no. We thought it might be an issue, but it is rigid and does not move around. All potential rub zones are well out of the way, either by being rigid themselves, or ziptied etc. Cheers Gavin
