RACQ fellow did what was suggested above, and all came good. Actually, he disconnected both the positive and negative terminals and touched them together.

Got it again a week later, and I checked the main engine ECU and found some oil had made it to the lower end of the red connector, which is where the auto box connects to the ecu (I believe). Cleaned it out, and has been fine since.

Let us know what fault codes your mechanic finds.
Bottom of ecu is the Canbus wires. Starting to become a common source of m&s issues. One workshop replaces the engine harness side of the ecu, due to age and the associated oiling problem causing m&s lights .

I had the M&S lights about 8 months ago. I was away on holidays when on one occasion after starting the car the lights were flashing.

I turned it off and on again but the lights were still flashing. I drove back to where we were staying and it must have been in limp home mode as it would not change out of third gear.

I plugged in my Nanocom and it came up with a fault Can Bus xxxxx, can't remember what came after can bus but I cleared it, and it has been fine ever since.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

    FINAL RESULT

It turned out to be a buggered fuse panel under the steering wheel.
Still cost me over $1000.00 . I think I could have found a second hand fuse box cheaper than the garage that did the work did.
It was caused buy LOW voltage to the bcu not no voltage.
Thanks to everyone who tried to help me.
