    If it is as good as you say I would gamble.
    Seems very cheap and if there are issues it shouldn't end up too bad.
    Beware my head job on my Defender TD5 ended up costing $7K
    Wrong coolant, damaged oil cooler, new head, radiator, etc etc.

    If you can handle the leaks it sounds ok for a gamble.

    That would explain the $3800.

    It's a mistake that's happened before. I've heard of people refer to the facelifted D1 as a "Series 2 Discovery".

    It did have me wondering when he mentioned this, as I have both TDI and TD5. One smokes on start up and the other doesn't.

    Well, at least then we can rule out a whole range of potential electrical issues, such as oil in the ECU loom, the Three Amigos, intermittent a/c ......

    i think it was initially listed as a TD5, and thats where my confusion has come from *shifty rookie eyes*

    on the upside, i pick up my first LR this morning before work.
    cant wait to finish so i can begin to tinker
