It was this post, and these images that I realised I was approaching this the wrong way the first time.

Clearly I should have had another look. I loosened the bolts behind the panel, but not the 'inner ones'. Sigh.

That might have made a bit of a different ne shifting the door.

Yes, but you had someone to help, I was on my own.

I thought it was a good idea and so far it's looking like a good outcome... best of all, it appears I still have some leeway with the adjustments with those bolts.
