Thread: 2003 TD5 No reverse

hi i was at a van park today some 120ks south of darwin getting ready to head home jumped in the car when i selected reverse there was no response the dash panel did not show R or P or even D when selected hence the car did not move in reverse butit was able to drive in D ven with no display. I managed to get te car hooked up with some help and made it home. Still no reverse but when the car sat for a bit and was restarted the P and R displayed for a short time before dissapearing I was able to get the car to move in revverse if i managed to select R before the display dissapeared i think it is an electrical issue anyone have any clues? thanks gerard

sounds like the XYZ switch is playing up. when it does not display on the dash it is not making contact which in turn means the gearbox ECU does not know to engage the reverse solenoid. They can be dismantled and contacts fiddled with if they are not broken. Use the search at the bottom to find some posts about it.
