Lee, you don't need to replace and engine because you blew a head gasket unless you had slipped liners or similar. They hate being Over heated.
But you can't really tell what's the damage until you pull the head off, if it only the gasket blew then ensure the head is not warped. It may not be as bad as you think and not as costly, which Cylinders are effected, if next to each other then that will explain less compression in one.
Are you handy with tools, can you read a manual like Rave, then go for it, spend a day pulling the head off and check what's really going one.
Even putting in a borescope into the effected no compression and having a look and see if the piston is not holed. It's a DIY job , but facing of head /s will be a pro shop job, proving every thing else is ok with head.
