Although you usually cant hear it, the SLS system is working all the time. As you come to a stop at the lights it is usually working.
The main thing to watch for is preventing dust ingress into the system. If you do venture onto dusty dirt roads frequently or are considering a long trip on dirt roads it is worth moving the SLS air intake from behind the LH rear tail light to inside the cabin by extending the hose, so it will no longer breath dust laden air. Even though there is an air filter it is pretty basic.
