    SERIES 2 DISCO V8 intermittent won't start

My mate has a disco 2 v8 that intermittently wont start after switching off the motor. Today it cut off whilst driving and he couldn't restart. On checking apparently the fuel pump does not run and there is no ignition spark. Any suggestions? the inertia switch was swapped with a good unit and the problem still exists. Jim

x2. They get effected by heat and once cooled come good. Not just in D2's but I've come across many CKPs that suffer the same symptoms.

Wheres the best place to buy a crank angle sensor from? It sounds like a good spare to keep onboard!

I reckon the crank angle sensor falls into the same maintenance schedule as an airbag,,
once every ten years or so!

I know you've checked the inertia switch but I wonder if that circuit has a short or break elsewhere. The symptoms match.

I think the circuit is closed when the switch is not tripped, so there should be current across it for the vehicle to be mobilized.

Do you have a manual and wiring diagram?

The switch goes to the engine compartment fusebox (white/green + brown/black). I would test for continuity on both sides of the fusebox. Then try bridging it on the switch side of the fuesbox as close as possible to the fuse.
