    New D2 owner :)

    Hi all, I have just picked up a 2001 D2 V8 with LPG Its in great condition and I am very pleased with it, I do have a couple of questions though.


    First one is to do with the LPG, not having run LPG before do I need to run it on petrol now and again and also how often?


    Second question, the SRS light goes off when started, then comes back on and stays on. I have checked the plugs under the seats any other ideas?


    Last one, for now, the drivers door locks with the remote but wont open. It will open with the key. Any ideas?


    I would imagine these issues have been covered before so if you have any links to threads that would be great. Thanks.

    Hi


    The door will be down to a faulty actuator. $100 fix if you do it yourself and a bit fiddly. Plenty of guides on how to do it on here and D2BC forum.


    My only advice would be to check ALL the coolant hoses and change anyway. Cheap to do considering it could save your engine.

    Welcome to the forum

    Put some photo's up when you get chance..

    Agree with Jerry... I have the same year and engine. I replaced all my hoses, thermostat and had my rad serviced and rodded out. Get that cooling system tip top..

    Check the yellow connection behind the glove box and then the one under the steering wheel cover.

    Thanks for replys, all the hoses have recently been changed as have the head gaskets and heater core. The previous owner was a Land Rover mechanic for 30 years so has done all the things that usually go wrong.


    I will check the connections under the glove box and steering wheel cover and see if that cures the srs light.


    I have some paper work for the lpg, it says an ELKO system with a OMVL convertor? Will check the ecu, where would that be located, when I get chance.

    The brake fluid reservoir is leaking a little at the bottom. Have ordered some new seals, will I need to bleed the brakes if I just change the reservoir seals? If I do will I need to bleed the abs unit also? Any tips if I need to do this, I don't have any electronic diagnostic equipment. Thanks.

    I am no expert on LPG (as has been proved often) but most D2's would run a sequential injection system, which starts on PULP but switches over seamlessly to gas.
    look for something like this on both sides,,


    so, to answer your original question, no.

    Bee-uty on our LPG forum knows all when talking about LPG.
