Thread: Power steering and ACE fluid- disco 2 v8

i use penrite for mine no problems.

If it it Penrite PAS001 PAS FLUID - (Power Assisted Steering Fluid) it is the correct fluid.

$28 per litre seems good, I think it's $33 per litre in WA Autobarns

Cheapest I could find was on ebay. $32 I think, and free delivery to your door.

Yep ... PAS by Penrite.

Been using it for the last 6 years. No issue.

It's the right stuff for the job !

Yes - just go to super cheap and buy a small oil transfer pump.
1. Pump out the ace and power steering fluid from the reservoirs.
2. refill both with pas fluid
3. start car and run for about 10 seconds whilst turning the steering wheel back and forth.
4. Repeat steps 1-3 about 3 times and most of the fluid will have been changed, except in the bowels of the ace system.

So repeat above every 12-24 months and you'll be fine.

I also use the Penrite PAS for both ACE and PS. I just used a high volume syringe - pulls out about 500ml at a time. Perfect for the job. Empty both sides, refill, and all done.

When servicing the ACE there is also a small filter in the hydraulic distribution block under the drivers side near the chassis. I am sure this is rarely replaced by most. It is a simple job to replace, and can be done without needing to re-bleed the system.

I bought an aftermarket one, it didn't fit. I ended up cleaning and replacing the original, it's not a hard job.
