Despite my clutch being heavy, I didn't put it in for city driving. My family of five is touring around Australia in our overloaded D2 pulling a 2.5 ton camper trailer... and we try and avoid the black top (in fact I make it work offroad!). Thus far I haven't had an once of trouble with the single mass flywheel conversion nor clutch, admittedly it's only been turning for approximately 30k. My wife and I have both found a remarkable improvement to the driveability particularly on engaging the clutch. My old dual mass was terrible and i've never driven a D2 with a new one. Our experiences only.

My clutch was a lot lighter after fitting a new master and slave.

Also, as Muppet said (yeah, I admit to being friends with him, lol) my previous Td5 which had a solid mass flywheel and I believe a Britpart clutch (fitted by PO), was much much heavier.

A comparison of a new single mass and an old shagged dmf isn't exactly Apples and Apples is it?
There's a reason the dmf wears out or karks it, its like the clutch, a consumable item over the course of time. It's the 'weak' link.
Swapping to a single mass shifts that weak link into the gearbox itself.
