Would anyone know what theses wires are?

While doing the oil pump bolt I noticed these wires unconnected at passenger side of tranny sump coming from the harness above tranny just behind the shift cable going to the xyz switch. Everything seems to work ok so am assuming they are for something that is not fitted but just want to make sure.
I have looked at the rave wiring diagrams and cant see matching colours on it anywhere.

ANd speaking of xyz switches who says you cant use zip ties for everything, looks like mine has been fixed previously and the repairer never had any bolts, note the zippies holding it together

    Without more info...

Does your D2 have CDL? Does the light come on on the dash when you engage it?

Tombie has a point here, they look exactly like the plugs for the diff lock switch on early modells, connect them together with a paperclip for test and turn ignition on, if the diff-lock warning will be on it means that's it... which is very likely

If it isn't for the CDL it may be the spare connectors for the NAS spec TC interlock solenoid. Not fitted in Aust.

Thanks for that when I get a battery back in it I'll get a spanner and turn the cdl and see if light comes on if it doesn't I'll try the paperclip on the wires.

Hey sierra, thanks for that tip the other day about the depression valve, went to do egr removal and previous owner was a bit sneaky (left the egr body there but blanked off the exhaust side with a plate between pipe and manifold ). Glad I decided to pull it apart though as depression valve must have been gone for a while as there was a pool of oil sitting in the hose from intercooler to inlet manifold and inside of inlet manifold looks like this , the hoses hadn't delaminated but were very soft so silicon are going on anyway since its all going to be pulled apart this arvo to clean intercooler and inlet manifold

I don't see well what colour is the trace on the black wire, if it's blue it's certainly diff lock, if it's green it can be tranfer box temp sensor wiring too which is also for NAS V8s, so if the transmission warning comes on with it bridged then that's it... the interlock solenoid wire is green with purple trace and in the pic it looks like some black wire with a trace

I did the same to mine completely removed the egr and all the black/blue smoke stoped I also put a oil catch can on and no more oil in my turbo pipes, have to empty the can once a month make sure you block of your vacuum pipes and un plug the vacuum manifold I forgot to do that on mine and the car would not run

on the diff lock switch you might find them connected but the switch to be fubar'd cos the old type of switches are poorly executed, i've replaced mine 3 times in 6 years, the connectors are same type just that one wire is black/blue also it's important to connect them the right way
