If the cause is that the waste-gate modulator has died then connect some hose directly from the waste-gate actuator to the pressure pick-up spout on the turbo output's metal pipe section that is normally used by the modulator, then block the tube on the turbo inlet to prevent dirt ingress.

However you should check that the waste-gate actuator is still properly connected to the waste-gate, that the waste-gate itself isn't frozen closed and that actuator will indeed operate the waste-gate when some air pressure is applied.

+1^^^ ... also check fuse F2 in engine bay just to rule it out and if the bypass thing works unplug the wastegate modulator's electric connector and protect it from earth cos if the problem is with it's solenoid other than open circuit it can put additional load on that circuit without blowing the fuse which will lower the MAF readings, if the bypass thing doesnt work you might need a new MAP sensor

If fuse 2 has blown then (IIRC) check for chaffed wiring in the harness that runs across the front of the head that may have shorted to earth.

    Cheers,

Thanks all for the repy. Bypass worked running normal 1.1bar boost. Gear change is holding gear a bit longer now I'll check the fuse and tape the plug.

Overboost come back. I found another actuator and it's still playing up. Still hitting over boost. Fuse f2 still fine.
I have checked with a mechanic on his auto logic and the following all tested fine.
    Fuel pressure and flow
    Map tried a different one
    MAF tried a new VDO
    No oil in water
    No water in oil
No fuses blown under the bonnet.
Struggling to rev over 3000 without overboost cutting in.

    Have I missed anything?

    1. Any oil in the ECM red plug or upper plug in the top of head?... if there is replace the injector loom
    2. Was running fine before or it's so from the beginning?... cos that max. 3000rpm thing can be wrong injector coding issue
    3. The EGR is still there?... if it is that could be an issue too

there is a contradiction here though, you say about overboost then that you can't rev it above 3000rpm without overboost...please explain that cos it's strange... how would you know it's overboost if you can't boost it up and you said that the boost is 1.1 with modulator bypassed(i presume you have a gauge) so why do you think it's overboost? can you see the boost rising above 1.4?... cos if the boost is good on the gauge and the engine cuts the fueling it can be other reason not overboost

for overboost there should have been some fault code logged , no fault code means usually fuel supply issue cos that's not covered by diagnostics...i'm starting to suspect the pump

Furthermore over-boost due to the waste-gate not opening for whatever reason usually starts at around 2500 rpm with full throttle, not 3000 rpm.
