Thread: Bypassing wastegate actuator.????

Remember post #9 ?... please check if there is oil in the ECM red plug or not cos oil acts as an insulator which can mix up signals and there are all the inputs/outputs involved in this issue(MAP, MAF, wastegate, CAN) and it used to give intermittent symptoms... at least to rule it out

Yep checked the plug this morning and the was a slight smear of oil contact cleaner on both black and red plugs. Still got the issue. Also turned the actuator upside down.

Even if the injector loom can't be the root of this overboost thing you'll have to replace it anyway then.... watch the battery voltage when it happens and confirm it occurs with MAF unplugged too?.... cos if the MAF reading exceeds 680 the management cuts fueling

Matt, since you getting auto error on your nanacom maybe it could be from when you drowned the Auto ECU, maybe this is where the fault is originating to.
The Auto ECU interacts with the other ECU and maybe it is sending intermittent signals causing the problem.
Open it again and see if there is no moisture left inside or try a known working ECU to eliminate the Auto ECU.

Invalid message on the CAN BUS .... wiring loom, xyz switch, .... ???

It's a communications error. Not necessarily a mechanical fault with the auto box itself.

I've had one or two P1884 codes in the past, but after a reset they stay away. The P1884 code is a pretty broad code that can refer to many things ....

Does it return after resetting ?

Try reading this ... Fault CODE P1884.

Ah, it has an auto box not a manual so TC slip moves the load threshold point higher.

Have got another auto ECU to fit in the morning and will have to resink it I guess.

The 1884 code does return after it has been cleared. I have pondered the XYZ and will look up the reco thread on that. Thanks heaps guys for the ideas. We will get to the bottom of this eventually.

It seems to stop over boosting after a while but comes back if I clear the error code. A bit weird that.

After unplugging the engine ECU fuel consumption went down to 15ltr. Another funny thing
