Hi Dave
I read the post you suggested and it certanly looks like the pump is suspect.Do you know anything about the lucas pumps now been offered. They are priced around $330 and claim to be made in the EU.
I was suprised to read the cheapies came without the bottom screen.I just fitted mine without checking and binned the old one
John
Sorry John. I have no idea on the Lucas one. Do you have a link to these?
Hi Dave
Just look on ebay under td5 fuel pump.I wouldn''t have a clue how to post a link.
John
John. Posting a link is very easy.
When you have a page open, in this case the ebay page, just copy the web address from the address bar at the top of the page and then paste it in your post.
Here it is. Land Rover Discovery Series 2 TD5 Fuel Pump L R Part REF WFX000280 | eBay
I notice that the seller is Roverlord. They are a vendor on this site and I think they (Mario and Heather) have a good reputation around here.
You could ask them for their opinion about the pump. If you did it through a PM and not ebay, I can assure you that you would get an honest reply, not just bull**** to get a sale.
Hi Mario, just wondering if you have been selling these Lucas pumps long enough to have had any feedback on them , if so what do you think?
Thanks
I've just been through the same thing re the fuel pump. Need a spare to carry for our trip away in September as the original pump is at 180k.
I spoke with Mario on the phone (he rang me after I placed an order via AULRO PM). He's 100% confident in these Lucas pumps.
There's an extra discount over the eBay price for AULRO members AND the pump also includes a new Mahle fuel filter (Mario stipulates that you MUST fit a new fuel filter when you install the new pump ... So he's including one) ... If you take off the price of a fuel filter, that makes the price of the pump sub $300 at AULRO prices. No brainier really :)
I haven't installed it, it's a spare.
Don't see how you could go wrong with one of these. Price and after sales backup from a forum member !

Kev, you have convinced me. I am going to order one, as mine has done over 200,000 km. I can have it as a back up for my back up, that being my Spectromatic.
As I already have it I will give it a try.
How do I get the AULRO discount? Do I have to send a PM?
G'day Dave. Just PM Mario (Roverlord off road spares) with a request for price and postage. Postage should be cheap as your already sth of the border! :)

Hi Dave
Looks like I better buy one also. Sorry for been an old idiot [I used to sell Land Rovers for a living while working for Leyland Australia back in the 1970's] but what the hell is a PM.-----woops, I mean been an idiot for not knowing what a PM is, not selling Land Rovers.
