I can confirm too that those Lucas pumps are **** as any other aftermarket, they can work for long this noisy way but it's annoying... only VDO is the good choice, i removed the Lucas and fitted VDO which is nice and silent, i keep the Lucas as emergency spare if the other one fails but a VDO should last for years
I could not stand the noise any longer. It was sounding like a gas turbine so I fitted a VDO pump[ $434 delivered from Island 4x4 UK] and it is now sounding and running like it should- quiet and smooth. I haven't tried a warranty claim as the lucas was still going and I wouldn't want a replacement anyway.I have learnt a costly lesson. The VDO cost less than the two aftermarket ones combined and I will now have piece of mind on my next trip to the WA goldfields.
