    D2 next mod??

So, after a healthy tax refund the D2 is getting some birthday gifts to get trail ready.

Have ordered 5 new Bridgestone d674's in 245/75/16 to sit on my standard steel rims. I was heading down the all terrain path but for <$1000 for 5 fitted, I don't really have anything to loose trying these in MT. After all I am in Tassie and like to prepare for worst case scenario.

Also picked up a ARB tyre deflator & puncture repair kit for the 4wd first aid kit.

My next mod's "wish list" contains a good Icom UHF, 2" springs (already have +2" shocks), snorkel, Td5 remap, winch & maxtrax but my mod fund only has enough left for one of these at the moment (excluding winch which is more $$). Looking at hitting general trails and exploring TAS & joining the local land rover club so building a "jack of all trades vehicle" is my preference.

Based on your experience, what order would you put these mods in?

What am I going to struggle with first. Wading depth with no snorkel or height issues in a D2? I do have an el-cheapo handheld .5w toy uhf which are good enough for convey travel so uhf is not #1 for me just yet.

I also see a few guys on youtube cut the lower part of their std bumpers get get better approach angle which seems to help with clearances so is this enough to compensate for not lift for a while?

    Cheers.

I'd go remap. You already have a basic uhf anyway. Vehicle will drive much better with a bit more oomph. But then you need an exhaust gas temp gauge so you don't get it hot. It's a slippery slope....

Does yours have a CDL? That should be number 1 if it hasn't.

    Thanks guys.

Its a late 01 model so no CDL internals at all. It has got the reprogrammable ecu though so a map would be easy.

So you would go a CDL over a lift first?

Yes. I'd go CDL over everything first. It's not a 4wd without a CDL. It's a one-wheel-drive (ie only a single wheel can get power at any given time)

Yep CDL. Even though it's not a 4x4, traction control will still get you further than a Toyota. You just wont keep up with your Land Rover mates.

    Happy Days
