not to sure but the output shafts do differ on some for example two wheel drive vehicles compared to four wheel drive, bell housings can be swapped over and the valve bodies may differ slightly as in spring rates I will compare the two when I strip mine down will have the stuff side by side before swapping things over.

And here is some more info on the A clutch mod using Teflon seals this is from a BMW site so enter the following into google, bmw e32 zf4hp22 4 speed automatic transmission rebuild.

there is mention that a small hole is drilled into the A clutch piston in a bleed and dump system, I am not keen on this part as robbing oil supply/ pressure from other parts of transmission.

Will just stick with the Teflon seal replacement hope to be starting on the rebuild towards end of October.

Hi stevo flex plate definitely not normal , I'd say you'd be right about the stack height, some #&*% must have previously pulled the box up with bell housing bolts , better have a good look at the oil pump, , torque converter looks OK ( on the bit I can see but you will be getting it serviced anyway I'd imagine)

    .
Only other thing that can cause the flex plate to do that is if the auto gets very hot and t/c expands and forces the flex plate to bend

    stevo,
there are a few different ways depending on where the original is, you can try cut and paste if the image is small, scrolling down the page you use to REPLY to a post, you see "manage attachments"
    add up to 5 pics,
    upload,
    close box,
    submit reply.

Here is a pic of the drive dogs on the converter had a lot of trouble getting it off as they were bent in too, must have also been pushed back bending the flex plate may explain why the engine stalled when it failed.

So something failed big time inside will know later have pulled the valve bank off my BMW donor trans looks like I will be using the oil pump and A clutch pack the clutch packs are in good nick and the valve body was spotless.
