Hi Battler, there is something amiss with all the info you are supplying.

If the earth on the ?CRANKING BATTERY? was not connected, you should not have been able to start the motor.

So is this your cranking battery you are measuring the voltage on, or an auxiliary battery?

Yes it's the cranking battery (only battery in the car).

Earth lead is now connected to the steering box.

I'm thinking it's that 150amp mega fuse as it's 14.5 alternator side and 11.5 battery side.

Shouldn't it be 14.5 both sides when running?

Fuses should be the same voltage either side. Both sides around 14v when running. Bothe sides around 12v when not.

    Thanks Mick,

I'll get another 150 mega fuse and see what happens.

Voltage when running is now only 11v on the Scanguage.

It seems that FL1 is gone then which means that there was a moment when the overall draw was above 150A or a short to earth on the battery positive lead ocured.... unless there's a crack in the fusebox between the point where the leads are connected and the fusible link

In your photo what is C0601?

I don't have that in my fuse box. I'll have a hunt around and see if I can find that yellow and black wire.

    Thanks
there must be some confusion in the picture, IMO that C0601 is the same with C0622 cos there's only one YB wire which goes to the glow plugs... it's not the only "glitch" in RAVE, there are some others too
