I think it is just normal

Was looking under the bonnet today, had my head down near the abs pump while looking under the exhaust cover at a broken stud and I could hear a faint pulsing noise from the abs modulator. The car had been sitting over night so I thought it was a bit strange, after a quick search around the net I have found heaps of others with the same noise but no real answer on if it is a problem or just normal.

It's a problem because over a long time it can flatten your battery too low for starting, but it's normal for it to be doing it - it's a Land Rover thing...
IMO it's not normal but happens a lot, not on all of them but on many, any door open signal powers up the SLABS ECU for the SLS to relevel if load is removed from the vehicle, the SLABS being under power IMO there is some low voltage parasitic induction into the modulator's wiring which makes the internal relay to click randomly... nothing bad happens just that it can be annoying... mine is rarely doing that, actually not at all lately, it's something to live with without fear

you have the Space Invaders game sounds don't you! - Yup it's normal and I read an explanation about it on AULRO years ago about and also a mod to silence them thus interrupting the parasitic battery drain and then you know you can start the D2 (that you happened to leave in the long term carpark at the airport for a month) on your return from the best holiday you've ever had until........
i'll find at post the link.

Thanks, I will stop worrying about it and ignore it, mine is factory coil so no sls but I did unlock the doors so that must have woke the car up.

Just something to be taken into account, the parasitic drain of the SLABS is around 0.5A and it's only for 1.5 hour after the ignition was off or for 30 minutes after a door was opened then the ECU goes to sleep so if a strong battery goes flat over night or in a couple of days better investigate further cos there's some other reason

Normal...little Dr Who flux generator type noises.
Cheers
