I recently drove from Tweed Heads South to Avoca Beach and then about100km running around for a corrected km of about 920 km.
The red light was on, but I then changed tanks for a Long Ranger and was able to drain another 10 litres.
I added9 litres from first click at Tweed Heads ,so near as dammit to 10l per100 km of maybe better, from a 2002 TD5 auto not towing and more or less obeying speed limits by GPS, so a lot was at 110.
So now I have about 150l from my 2 Long Ranger tanks,at 155 l minus dents, as they are second hand, I should get 1400 safe .
Regards Philip A
I have had a very similar result in my 2003-4 TD5 Auto, but have to say that was after having a reconditioned short motor, due to big-end bearing failure, about a year before. Probably only 20,000 km on the "new" engine. New torque-converter as well.
Cheers,
Andrew
filled the tank up, put 93.02ltr in her and travelled 1016km, so that's 9.15 l/100km can't grumble with that! Might be something to do with the chip that's fitted!
Adjusted for oversize (6%) tyres.
Td5. 183k. Auto. Std tune. Std tank. Draws, recovery gear, tools, roof bars + tray, awning, dual batteries, etc, etc ...
Not towing
Best - 1052km (9.03L/100km)
Worst - 452km (21.02L/100km - don't ask)
Average - 811km (11.71L/100km)
Towing (1.5T Kamper)
Best - 776km (12.24L/100km)
Worst - 597km (15.91L/100km)
Average - 685km (13.87L/100km)
I allow 750km not towing / 600km towing to give a saftey margin.
D2 manual.
Averaging 10.2 city and highway driving over the last 8 months.
I had a V8 before this and the economy was double, twice that rate.
Bullbar, roof racks with a bike rack these days.
No doubt the economy went a little south since the racks and bike rack went on.
Still overall so much better than the V8
