    Replacing battery terminals

    Hi guys,

My battery terminals have seen better days, particularly the positive one which will not tighten to a secure connection. Is there any reason I shouldn't replace them with something like this? I'm going to be adding a dual batter system shortly, so the posts will come in handy. My biggest concern was, is it wise to put lugs on both of the positive cables from the loom and have one on top of the other connected to the terminal?

    Thanks Tombie,

This is what I currently have for positive, I assume it is standard?? What would you do with both the positive's from the loom using your suggestion?

The terminals you've pictured are a bit average in my experience.

I'd stick with lugs on the cable ends, and bolt straight to the top terminals rather than dicking around with squishing the cable into the end and clamping it down. It's a recipe for working loose, or having frayed ends which will short out on you.

Or clean up the one you have and replace the thread with a stainless bolt and grind two flats to fit, M8 bolt? from memory...

The factory battery terminals eventually go slack, and can't be tightened onto the battery posts.

I replaced mine with battery terminals with an M10 post on them, and crimped Tinned Copper 35mm2 lugs onto the ends of the battery cables -
