Stock LR rims from new. Will look at the poly. ..never liked them. Will do bushes and balance and fresh alignment.
Cheers and thanks
Do you have wheels with more offset fitted?
One of the reasons for the ball joints is to get neutral or negative scrub radius to minimise wobble problems.
I also would look at the bushes in the panhard rod. I once had a set of poly bushes last one trip to the centre.
On balance the first thing I would do is change the panhard bushes.

I had issues with Maxxis when they were worn. They seem to go out of round after x k's. Could it be they have done a lot of k's and cant be balanced properly any more.
I had a set that would vibrate so badly at 80 k. They calmed down again around 95 but around 80 they were almost undriveable.
Ive gone to Cooper now and they seems to be better as long as I keep them rotated and balanced.
Try rotate and balance and have a quiet chat with the tyre people to see what they think about the condition of the tyres. Might be worth a try.
Hi, are some of the problem possibilities outlined here, something that a pedders check might be able to find?
Not wanting to bag a company but I had four maxis put on our MX5.
First trip was to Bendigo from Lethbridge.
The car was just about undrivable.
Phoned the tyre fitters and he told me to bring it back. He replaced the tyres with another brand and all was good.
Could it be that some tyre brands do not suite some cars?
Not sure if it's any help, but on my vehicle I have to following the following:
With my offset wheels, 33" tyres, 3" lift and aftermarket solid steering rods unless I have that toe out I get horrible shuddering on corners.the vehicle should be TOE OUT between 0 - 2mm total.
However, there is a common misconception at tyre shops about this and often they will set it to TOE IN. You usually need to tell them and specify it to them (often they will give you an odd look about it too).
Have a read of http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...when-cold.html - on my vehicle with the 4" lift, if it's not set correctly to toe out, I get shuddering in the steering wheel.
Thanks all. Mine is zero toe but I might go toe out as I had 2mm toe out years ago and found that to be good. Thanks Michelle - I would choose anywhere else for a 4wd but I appreciate what you are saying re a suspension shop checking it over. I have had good mechanics check it and cannot find any play of problems anywhere...toe in is a good place for me to start.
Thanks re tyres. I have had a few sets of Maxxis and never had a problem and these are reasonably new. There is not a vibration at any particular speed etc but rather a shaking of the wheel when cornering and hitting holes mid corner...ie the hole hitting sets up a head shake.
Cheers
The hitting a hole or bump can be a symptom of panhard rod bushes on the way out. I have found they can look ok but the rubber must be soft or something as a replacement has cured it, and yes, after doing lots of other things first!
Cheers Scott
Thanks mate. New APT adjustable rod but could not get new LR bushes in because of the way the eyes are made...unfortunately that means using the Nylon bushes that came with it...so new but crap from the outset. Now im going to have to machine a lead in on the bar so i can use stock LR bushes.
Cheers
