A quick change of topic....
Had a rego inspection yesterday for a NSW Blue slip to swap from the current NT rego and it passed !
...even with the Three Amigos doing their thing???
Nothing I could do to clear them yesterday.

I am finally getting a bit of time to work on the D2, While these two parts aren't that hard to get off i could see that the hidden bolts could be a pain getting them back in.
The photo explains it although the heat shield idea is not mine. Will definitely be easier to remove next time for myself or the next owner.
Changed all gear oils. Cheers
The Disco is now NSW registered as of yesterday.
I was sad removing the NT plates. [bigsad]
So it looks like the damn fuel pump locking ring has come loose again, spilling diesel out the top of the tank...last time it was half a day of stuffing around and took two of us half an hour to get the f***ing lock ring to engage properly!
Not looking forward to pulling the bloody tank out again!
Carnut put the seal into the tank first and then slide pump in and that will allow locking ring to sit down fully. Cheers
You don't have to pull the tank out, I suspect you haven't fitted the seal properly, one side of the seal sits on the inboard side of the tank , the other sits on the sender side , if you just dropped the seal on to the outside you would have a hard time getting the lock ring on
After a couple months of not doing much of anything with Gary thanks to rain and driveway=workshop, the last couple of days have been GLORIOUS.
- Trimmed down roof rack side that wasn't doing anything but getting in the way of roof tent opening.
- Mounted 2 4.5kg gas bottle holders on roof rack.
- Added a short length of rope to roof tent cover zip to improve ease of access (its funny how the 2 minute jobs can take weeks to get around to).
- Sealed up holes in roof rack from removal of side rails.
- Replaced plastic trim panel behind right rear mud flap.
- Started the framework to secure water tank where rear seats used to be.
- Plumbed water tank.
- Replaced air box cover with shiny new one with non-broken MAF/intake clip mounts (thanks Mario!).
- Cleaned MAP sensor.
Hooray for sunshine!
Then, of course, I added a bunch of other items to the to-do list I saw while I was doing the above.
I gave the old girl a good scrub today to remove 3 weeks worth of grime from my last trip, it's amazing how well she scrubs up still [biggrin]
NO repairs were needed But I did change out the +120 globes in the high beam lenses for a set of 250w LED's.
Well it didn't happen today it was over the last week.
Moe to Cobram, to Ivanhoe, White Cliffs, Tibooburra, Cameron Corner, Innamincka via the old Strzeleki Track and to Birdsville via Walkers Crossing. Nothing went wrong and it used no oil anywhere and no coolant. It did use plenty of diesel though - a little better than 13l/100km.We're towing a camper at around 1800kg. The only problem we've had with anything is a split water tank which is
hardly the cars fault.
