Attended to driver’s window stuck down. Only replaced the motor a bit over a year ago. Pulled motor out and it was full of water.

    Front Diff

This is what happened to my front diff yesterday.
Does anybody have a front diff for sale around the Maitland NSW area? Willing to travel to pick up.

front diff - rear diff .. all the same.

probably worn diff carrier where the spider shaft sits, enough looseness for the shaft to snap ... or the shaft itself just broke(not unusual) taking everything with it.

D1, D2, RRC and front defender diffs, basically all the same. just make sure they're 24 spline types(not 10 spline)
I've seen some members give them away, fairly cheap on gumtree, etc.

Other than the diff centre, is the rest of the diff OK? CW/P, diff case, etc .. do they look OK?
Could be a good reason to get a locking diff of some type(not a locker per se, but an auto locker is also an option)

If the rest of the diff is OK, set of bearings, ATB type diff centre, and away you go.

Put a couple of relays in for the headlights. HUGE difference so I can see where I’m going. Put in a new rear prop shaft donut and again a huge difference lotsa vibration has been banished. Replaced a heap of trim clips in the rear door and gave the locking mechanism a good clean. It now opens and shuts really easily. Lotsa little stuff done.

Yep that sounds about right pins would properly be the first to let and the rest is history
On the plus side managed to get a complete front axle so should be all up and running by the weekendWhat happened to your Discovery 2 today?

Got the word today on Chaffy and his appetite for coolant.

Head was stuffed. So much for exchange engines.

Corrosion in the water jackets and leaking into number 1. Considering they are supposed to pull the motor apart and check all common faults and put in new bits for the “common faults” prior to sending I am not impressed. Motor has down about 50000 km since I have had it and was supposed to be low km when I bought it.

My TD5 is serviced regularly along with the coolant been flushed and replaced every 20000 km or 12 months it’s not from poor maintanence on my behalf. I do a lot of high speed highway work in the Territory so reliability is extremely important.

Ordered a new AMC head from Turners. Hopefully will be here by early next week.

On on the brighter side I have shiny bits to go in as well. Allisport Full size intercooler, stage 2 remap, provent 200. The intercooler will require the relocation of the gearbox cooler, so a bigger one with more oil capacity will be going in to help keep my HD Ashcroft gearbox temps down.

    Where does it end.

My past experience was not good...brand new V8 but they fitted a clapped out oil pump..you can imagine what happened when we started it😐

And it took months to resolve. ..not by them but by a generous local indy...never again as they say 😎
