With the TD5 I'm funny about filters.
Genuine (which are generally cheap!) Mann or Mahle for the full flow and Mann (or genuine) for the centrifugal.
If anyone ever gets really paranoid about a spin on spinning off, this is what you can do but it's totally anal!
On race cars I used to clamp a big hose clamp around the body and used tie wire to secure.
That sucker was never going anywhere!
Of course good luck getting tie wire pliers anywhere near a TD5 oil filter!
Clocked over to 390000 km today

Fitted a Hunter-di C6100-4 speedo corrector to suit the new boots.
I'm only 10-15 years behind everyone else with this stuff, but you can't rush these things

Subscribercouple of weeks ago my D2 blew the turbine on a supposed heavy duty torque converter so........while the box was out I swapped all the clutch drums with a V8 trans I had lying around , fitted new clutch packs etc as the old box was starting to hang on changes ,adaptions maxed out.
while that was happening I thought I may as well pull the old motor as well and replace with one I had built up with match ported heads etc , nothing wrong with old motor but needed new water pump , engine mounts, alternator, pulleys , fan bearing etc.
Old engine had 370 000 kilometres , should be good for another few years of abuse
test run .......goes like hell with all the mods, trans changes cleanly and quickly, should last long enough till I fit a 6 speed .
was done over 8 nights plus this morning ( probably 30 - 35 hours ) only coz I like them and want a reliable remote tourer.
1: V8 output shaft required swapping with longer TD5 one
2: been sitting doing nothing but waiting for a few weeks
3: match ported to gasket / manifold size , both intake / exhaust
4: ceramic coated manifold
5: out with the old
6: in with the new

Hahaha, the temptation when having a die grinder and burrs handy.
Love it!
Sounds like someone I know that couldn't leave the die grinder alone after buying a Turner 'gas flowed' Tdi head as it looked like the work experience kid had been let loose on it!
Two days later he was happy.
I have had the same experience. For a year or so I thought I had a leaky sump gasket but no, it was my "correctly installed" REPCO filters. Used them for 3 consecutive services before my mechanic son got me onto COOPERS-FIAAM Filters, Made in France, no leaks. Also, I never had issues with RYCO that I had longtime used previous to REPCO.
