Thanks gents. I have a 3.9 sitting on my D1 that would be a good donor if block is the issue.
Crazy stuff as it's been cool as a cucumber.
Cheers

Sorry to hear that Ozscott. Sounds like the same issue I had, unfortunately. Mine was on number five also.
Was yours the dreaded cracked webbing between cylinder mate? Cheers
How old a 3.9?Quote:

All the blocks are backward compatible but not forward compatible. It would have to be a very late 3.9 to have the bosses for knock sensors and the mount for the crank sensor.

95. I can TIG them on.

Sourced a 4.0 from a P38. Aust car. 130,000klm. If the block was going to go it would have by now. 4.0 going in as is. My primary vehicle is now a Triton GLS Premium MR series. Quite a big vehicle for a smaller ute. 60cm longer and 3cm wider than a 110 Defender.
Keen to keep the D2 on the (and off the) road though.
Cheers
We allow Tritoo drivers here, so don't be a stranger.
Today I made use of the roof console and all its spare wasted space. (I don't have sunroof(s)), so fitted my UHF, an extra ciggy socket, direct wired to battery so I can power my dashcam, and charge my phone, or whatever needs a USB, and a little battery voltage "gauge". Just coz. [emoji1783]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...71cd06c435.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...cfa5c5f893.jpg
