    Yeah great ****ing idea...

Without even contemplating the install of the tank etc..

If he hasn't fitted LPG signs to the plates it's DANGEROUS to ERT should the vehicle be involved in an MVI.

Or if the button is bumped and floods to intake turning it into a grenade...

Or in an impact the button is bumped and starts pumping gas into a smashed vehicle...

There is a reason certified systems are certified - they have safety factors included to ensure they shut down should something go wrong... controllers, solenoid at both ends, relief valves, etc etc...

This isn't trying to do something different..

This is dangerous and dodgy bloody work...

What happened to your Discovery 2 today?

My opinion of you continues to lower...
Your penny pinching is outright dangerous...

Tank mounts, hose type, control systems, regulators etc AND of course the Red Diamond indication on the Vehicle plates...

Nothing worse than hack mechanics posting dangerous and bad practices online...

I truly hope WAPol pull your vehicle up and sticker it off the road.

why would they pull me over and sticker me ?

what is the difference ..a remap /chip /gas
tank mounts ..do you think for one second I have my gas bottle sitting in the passenger seat ?

if there going to sticker me its not going to be for gas ...it will be the well known oil leaks

I would love to ask why are so ****ed at me doing this are you a cop or work for the government

as for penny pinching the power shot 2000 does the same thing...... just that I actually control via switch to activate ..and some thing I don't use unless I need it

I have no leaks I have a vent off ....so I cant see the dramas and why your getting your knickers in a twist

or is mixing diesel and gas supposed to be kept silent in a public forum ?

Mate honestly if you cant and dont see what you are doing is wrong and illegal and darn right dangerous .
You need to be charged and your car put off the road.
And im not a cop but i am a concerned road user and dont want to share the road with a potential BOMB

Haddaway, man, If you can't see it... What happened to your Discovery 2 today?

Huge bloody difference between a remap and a BBQ gas bottle with an electric tap...

I'm ****ed with people (in this case you) posting BAD/DANGEROUS modifications on this forum....

The result being something along the lines of "that sounds like a good thing, tell us more"

Being a Cop would have nothing to do with it...

    It's ****ing dangerous.

The tanks used must be ADR approved, they must be mounted and installed in compliance with the rules for LPG in vehicles.

So yes - I hope it gets defected... or you wake up to yourself and do a proper, compliant job.

What a bizarre and dangerous thing to do. Thank goodness im interstate and not anywhere near your vehicle in the event of a crash. Wake up to yourself.

So in the event of the regulator being broken off or seriously damaged does your bbq gas bottle have a safety release shut off? No i thought not. Automobile gas tanks are designed with this safety feature so that there can be NO sudden release of gas in the event of a line rupture. You really need to grow some brain cells please and desist from fiddling with your vehicle. Leave it to professional mechanics is my suggestion.

As an ex-firefighter, I have been to my own share of vehicle accidents, some involving LPG, and others not.

One of the first thing we looked for, was that diamond plate attached to the number plate, as this often dictated our plan of attack.

By not having any indication that your vehicle is running on gas, you are placing innocent lives in danger, in the event of an accident.

Have your mounts passed impact testing?

Do you have safety cut-off devices?

How much gas do you hold in that tank?

I have also been to MVA's where a bbq gas bottle was carried inside the vehicle, and the driver decided to light up a smoke. The vehicle was a station wagon, and the bottle was rolling around in the back. End result was a very long night, and not a very pleasant task after the police had finished examining the remains. Oh, and all this happened while he was waiting to pick the kids up from school.

From a safety factor alone, anyone else contemplating doing this, just DON'T.

Ok, my 2c. I only own a defender and a few series vehicles so I assume this will be taken with a pinch of salt but...

If for any reason a vehicle with such a set up came to my attention I would first defect it for having a fitment to the footrest area (this is a safety breach)

But my major concern would revolve around the whole concept of home made and fitted systems.

Yes that's little red square may save MY life, so I may be a square but I expect a few things from drivers in return for my promise that I will come running to cut you free from a car prang or put the wet stuff on the red stuff if your car catches fire... And they relate to safety!!

In WA this is the basic reg..

Division 11 ? LPG fuel systems
    362.LPG‑powered vehicles
(1)A motor vehicle equipped to run on LPG must comply with the requirements for the use of LPG in vehicles in ?

(a)the version of Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 1425‑1999 LP Gas fuel systems for vehicle engine, jointly published by Standards Australia and Standards New Zealand in force at 1 November 2002; or

(b)if an earlier version of the standard was current when the vehicle was first equipped to run on LPG ? that version.

(2)A vehicle equipped to run on LPG must have fixed conspicuously to the front and rear number plates a label that is ?
    (a)made of durable material; and
(b)at least 25 mm wide and 25 mm high; and

(c)reflective red conforming to AS 1742‑1975 Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices, Appendix C, Class 2; and

(d)marked ?LPGAS? or ?LPG?, or with words or acronyms to similar effect, in capital letters at least 6 mm high

But I also have concerns as a firey....

That system in a rollover is likely to let the lpg flow... That creates a massive risk to all in and around the car, in the car, during any accident and after any accident...

This system is untested to all the standards that are required to be on the road. As a volunteer attending at prangs the whole concept terrifies me, I am not planning to die at one of these jobs nor spend my time cleaning up the remnants of those who have been killed that way.

I beg you to dismantle this before you get reported on the news as a " possible terrorist car blast" ! It may work, it may be (as far as you see it) safe, but there is a reason it's not done... Please dismantle it, and I beg that anyone reading this seriously rethinks copying this highly illegal and dangerous move.

As I said, it's my 2c - but it is also the law, the common sense thing to do, it's the regulations,it's the lpg pressures being regulated and regularly checked after fitting, it's the warning to others.... Basically it's the vibe of the thing...
