    Leak-free at last!

Not actually today but a fortnight ago, I had a leaking torque-converter seal replaced.

It has leaked slightly ever since a new torque converter was installed at the same time as my engine was replaced, over 5 years ago.

The workshop knew about this, and after my last service actually offered to re-do the TQ seal gratis.

While the auto-trans gearbox and transfer case were out, I also had the leaking transfer case overhauled with a new reseal kit (at my expense).

Also had the condition of the RotoFlex joint on the rear end of the tail shaft checked and found OK.

I had long been fed up with making a mess wherever I parked, and the uneasy feeling that I would gradually be losing ATF and gear oil onlong trips.

It's great to have a car (that I think is) in mechanically sound condition throughout, and now drops no oil of any kind, and loses no coolant.

I took the 4.6 for a good drive. So smooth and powerful for a nearly 20 year old vehicle. Lots of rattles in the cab but you get that after 350,000klm and Cape York What happened to your Discovery 2 today?.

It feels old and brakes are not as good as the new Triton but it's brilliant to be driving her again.

    Cheers

So good to hear you have the old girl going again. What happened to your Discovery 2 today?

The Trytoo brakes are good, much, much better than the Lolux I used to drive for work, but you can get the D2 to at least match our better with better (more aggressive) pads and good discs.

That looks pretty good... follows the lines of the D2... some of them I've seen can look really out of place.

Thanks mate. I have a set of front and back pads sitting here...from the custom pad mob down the coast that you put me onto...have yet to fit. The GLS and GLS Premium models of Trito got the bigger (over MQ and other spec models of MR) front discs.

    Cheers
