    Stupid tools!
I have brothers TD5 for a bit. Just doing odd jobs.
One of the jobs is to sort out the very loud wind noise from the RH rear door.
Thinking its going to be a simple seal of some type or adjust door a little tighter, I looked at my parts D2 and the lightbulb turned on.
It's missing the RH rear upper door frame, remembering that we used it on brothers car as his was rusting badly when we pulled it apart to fix the non working window.
Ah! when we fitted it we didn't line it up properly, so went to his D2 and sure enough the shut lines along the upper frame were directly outwardly, so not sealing properly against seal.
Easy fix, undo the T40 bolts, re line up frame, tighten T40 bolts .. done!
While I'm at it I may as well check the other doors .. the tool is already in my hand. LH rear is also ever so slightly out of good alignment, so should give it a tweak.
WRONG!!! Should just learn to leave 'sleeping dogs lie' as I was undoing one of the T40's it felt a little tight(they're all tight, but this one just a bit more so) .. snap!
Stupid Torx tool snapped in the bolt head. At least it didn't twist and get stuck in the head, now I have a useless angled T40 tool in the Torx kit.

At least I got the problem door done .. out for a drive down a freeway to see if it done the job .. maybe even easier, just hit it with the garden hose to see if it leaks.
    Arthur.

All these discos are giving me a heart attack!

Some times my tail gate needs a third push on the remote to unlock it.

If you are able get a long bit of wire and make a hook on one end and sit in tthe back seat and hook the inside door handle and pull.
Or get someone to do it for you.

I have a made up one lying behind the back seat, and I have drilled a hole in the door handle and placed a zip tie through the handle to make a loop.

I figure I can get it between my fridge and set of drawers if it ever happens to me. I only use dry lube on my door mechanism so the grease does not congeal.
    Regards PhilipA
BTW , it does not help to be able to lift the lock button, only the door handle works. I have cut a porthole in my folding table to expose the door handle thus the need for the zip tie.

The remedy is to get a piece of expanded foam rubber material ( cut from one those interlocking floormats or similar) and adhere it in place so that when the door is closed the child lock tab is sandwiched and cannot move - especially when travelling over severe corrugations for hours days or weeks which hints at where the need, and the idea for the remedy originated from What happened to your Discovery 2 today? in the photo you can see the indent from the child lock tab in the rubber.

It could be, I've had it happen a few times since my ex got angry and really forced the tailgate past its Max open point, so then it was crooked. Then he was able to adjust so it fastened but ever since, on the odd occasion it would not open. It has gotten really bad recently and as soon as any rain, it won't open at all. I don't have the strength to squeeze the handle or push on the door to help. Its been fine for a few weeks and then yesterday it decided not to and haven't been able to open since What happened to your Discovery 2 today? I will get dad to have a look later
