Used a Deutsch type connector to stay factory looking and be waterproof.

Heat shrink and soldered.
Bought a new switch to be sure of fixing the fault.

Tapped into the big earth wire back inside the conduit. Out of sight and protected.

Cut the yellow and green wire far enou back that it tucks into the conduit and still looks factory. I ran the wire directly to my new plug and sheathed it and the earth with heat shrink.

Clean. Did you probe the connector?
Option B is nothing but a plug bypass for the 2 pin connector on the SVS..

I'm guessing the new SVS unit was your actual fix...

JC scanned it and came up with SVS fault.
With no idea whether it was the internal circuit board or the switch itself I decided to get a new switch and do option b at the same time.
Didn't probe the connector, but after doing the swap I checked the actual old switch with a multimeter and it's open circuit no matter what combination the switches are in.
Seems the switch itself was dead.
Which just means I won't have to open it up and do option b when the circuit board fails next year.......

One thing I really hate is dodgy wiring, scotch lock taps, cheap crimp connectors squashed with pliers, connectors that look out of place in the car etc...or wires draping across where they don't belong!
If I fit something to a car I want it to look as factory as possible, or if not then neat and tidy.
Probably took 3 times al song as I need to do this, but I think I got the effect I wanted. To me that's worth it.

Yes. I fully understand that. I work the same way.

Mine was SVS, probed the terminals at the plug and the connector internally and both had solid contact..

SVS gets brake fluid ingress and kills them over time...

Replaced ours, rechecked the connector resistance and all was good.. clipped it back in and were away.

I also threw a seal kit in the Shuttle valve cartridges to prevent the leaks for another 10 years...

Been going 6 years since it was done without a problem.

I replaced the trailer plug with one of those with led test light ones,,, then put its other half on the caravan, and ended up with (led) taillights on all night... and no, the car wasnt connected.
And they then stayed on even after i took the plug off!

Did ya try brake lights and indicators too 😂👍could have saved on wiring 😉😉

Today I converted the rear fog lights to low level brake lights. It was a simple mod requiring 500mm of wire and a IN5404 rectifier diode to bridge the fog and brake circuits - the diode allows the fog lights to still operate if needed without interferring with the brake light circuit. A very satisfying holiday job completed :twobeers:

Replaced the alpine window seals with silicon sealant. That should keep the water out. Also siliconed the cracked panel under the windscreen too. A great day with the silicone.
