The car didn't use any water at all on the return home or since then which included Mt Ousley climb, and the 20km climb up the Alpine Way towing my approx 800Kg camper. I kept it under 100C on the climbs, and that I think is the difference. I will probably invest in a new radiator
I am keeping an eye on it , but my theory is what happened to a Nissan I had years ago. This is that I stopped the engine after a heavy low range climb at 35C+, and the system pressure forced a bit out of the cap . I thought at the time whether I should have stopped the engine or let it idle. I usually keep the reservoir filled to the join , which I now find is a bit high according to the little diagram on the rear engine side of the reservoir. Why put it there for goodness sake.
I guess time will tell . In the meantime the car has never gone so well as it does now.
