    Service Time

Daisy the Disco got a new air filter, new oil filter, new oil and the gear box and transfer case topped up. Putting the LT230 filler plug was very easy, first time. Normally I cuss and swear for 10 minutes or so before I get the nut started. Maybe the higher suspension gives better access? I cheated by loosening and tightening it up with my Milwaukee electric wrench.

Before I had a Land Rover I did not have any torque wrenches. Now I have three.

There is no brass in the TD5 motor, right? I don't recall seeing any on the strip down. Just did my first 1000km oil change on my freshy but before I did the oil, I topped off the tranny and used the same bucket for the overflow that I dumped the oil in. and found a bunch of brass looking stuff non-ferrous when I emptied the bucket.

I would have thought it would sink in the ATF fluid and not come out via the overflow fill.

Yeah, it's a great workshop but not mine, it's my folks place 27 acres up near Pipidinny. Unlucky for me they are going to be selling and downsizing soon and I will lose the workshop . I did have the concrete scanned and its able to support a hoist, was all ways on the wish list

True! I hope not, the material kind of looked like wire brush bristles, like as if it came from them small toothbrush cleaning tools.

I just finished pulling the oil filter apart and its clean of bits, so either I did not do a good clean on the drain bucket or it came from the tranny spill over. :/

So you ended up doing up the flex plate to TC bolts through the inspection plate?

Nothing in the TD5 that looks like that, so you should be alright there at least. Have you got a pic of the material in question?

Is that a custom air filter or out of something else?, D2's looking good

Yep, too excited to get the motor back in and was not thinking.... contemplated pulling it back out and doing it proper but gave up on that idea just did them up tight and some Loctite hopefully holds.

The air box is just a s/steel canister universal style which houses a big pod with modded inlet and outlets it was from a local shop, but they don't do them anymore instead only focusing on the common cars. It's also insanely noisy with the VGT, makes it car sound like it's some kind of massive truck turbo spooling gets great turbo flutter but..

I did some car builders deadener and insulation in the roof when doing the roof lining and that keeps it manageable in the car now with windows up.

While not lining the flex plate up with the flywheel holes probably is the kinda thing mechanic's ****up once as an apprentice then get given a bollocking bad they never make that mistake again considering they're stretch bolts holding it all together a note in the workshop manual would be nice
