Fitted a Slickshift kit to my Manual D2a. I've had a Slickshift fitted to the R380 in my '04 Defender for 4 years and it has been an awesome mod. The D1/D2 kit is quite different but as I was in the middle of clutch change etc I thought I would give it go.
Just need to get a new rubber boot now as it was of course split in several places.

To make sure I could get in seeing I had shelves in the back, I put a zip tie loop around the inside handle and placed a long bit of steel with a hook on the end across the back. Never had to use it.Quote:

Usually it will open using the inside handle if not from outside due to gunge or something jammed.
I also only used dry lube Teflon on the lock mechanism and guide and never had a problem even with very much dirt road work. It's grease that turns to ****.

Mine wouldn't open from inside either. But a good run over some corrugations has it open today. So the trim will come off, a good spray with some brake cleaner and then some form of lock lube. Totally agree about grease. That and oil are the enemy of locks etc. Must be non sticky, so lock lube or graphite only. Pretty sure lock lube is Teflon or similar.Quote:
