Drove to the Wombat Winter Wonderland camp site on a recce, make sure I could find it and see the lie of the land. Then it was a drive east to the east edge of the Lerderderg State Park. Nice drive not at all challenging, I've driven some of these tracks in the Toyota (Echo )

    Cheers all

www.discovery2.co.uk?? Watts Linkage Bushes / Bearing replacment.

I have a clunking coming from the rear and I am yet to work out what it is.
I found that it clunked when entering and leaving the rural stores drive, more so if I angled it. So some hand rocking while parked, then under with a large screwdriver and tyre lever and levered and moved each bush. I have found that Super Pro make a poly bush kit at about a third of the rubber bush cost. Am still weighing up the pros and cons of what to do.

    Nearly rolled my D2 ....

Some years ago I retro fitted CDL activation and did the SLABS Feed wire cut mod so that Traction Control was always enabled and that has served me well since 90% of my offroad driving is fair weather driving on bush tracks. I also do a snow camp every year and so that means a fair amount of snow driving but I've had mixed experience with TC+CDL in those conditions. However recently I had an unsettling experience whilst driving downhill under engine braking through a soggy and mucky cow paddock when the D2 skated a little (nothing alarming) and the TC kicked in and then WOW! in half blink the D2 rear swung around to meet the front and we ended up facing 90% to the original direction of travel across a downhill slope with the heaviest occupant (not me) on the downhill side and we both wondering what will happen next. I've had a similar experience in slushy snow. So i've now put a "momentary on" switch between the cut wire ends in the the SLABS feed and now i have a choice of TC + CDL (the default) or "push" the switch down whilst starting the D2 with CDL selected and have only the CDL because now the TC will be fully inhibited. Although the ABS lamp will be lit as well as the TC the ABS will still function.

Thanks I will have to remember that, however when you are up to your arse in alligators it's hard to remember that the objective is to drain the swamp.

I always thought that the switch will be handy for sand so I fitted one.
    Regards Philip A
