SubscriberBought a Britpart rear bumper for my D2 today from 4WD Industries for $670 and went and picked it up as delivery over $40.
I took my Jazz as they have as much room in the back as the Disco and much cheaper fuel at 5.5L per 100Km.
The bar came in a ginormous box which could have taken 3 or 4 bars, and had to get rid of it to fit it in the car.
Britpart must be mad as the volumetric must be immense.
Maybe that is why I was quoted over $300 freight from LR direct which made it more expensive even without GST than the local bloke.
PITA on M1 at 80Kmh from Wyong to Donaldson.
Now to fit it.

Easy job , but you'll either have to grind down the head of the self tapper for the plastic over riders
or replace them with rivets as the britpart bar wouldn't clear the last few I have fitted

SupporterThis morning’s effort was new front brake pads after deciding the last trip down the Toowoomba range was a bit sketchy and that wasn’t towing anything plus mine is a manual
Went with Repco RCT as currently 20% off. Ordered online Thu AM and picked up from store Friday lunchtime, which for out is pretty darn good
Easy to do and let’s put it this way, the caliper pins were pretty happy to see some grease.
No more brake squeal and more bite/feel so I’m happy
After suffering plenty of stone damage on the camper trailer getting from Windorah to Birdsville, decided to buy Rock Tamers. Absolutely brilliant bit of kit. Top quality components and very clear instructions.
Hopefully no more of this.....
.
Some really nice protection.....

						SubscriberFitted the Britpart bumper today.
Was a pretty hard job as I was by myself. I dropped the tow bar by loosening the bolts . Had to have several goes with a jack supporting it and the bumper as the bumper caught on the raised bosses on the towbar.
Finally got to start the bolts and when one was done up I was able to put in the side bolts behind the taillights.
The bar seems pretty good fit although it overlaps the side garnish on the bottom of LH side. The bolts behind the taillights tended to bend the bar a bit. My car has been in a couple of accidents so it may be the rear crossmember is in a bit.
The taillights fit well. The rubber strip on top of the bumper is sitting up a bit at present but that should settle down. The hi lift point and the tow points look very strong as they are welded to the front and back of the box section of the bar.
I spent most time fitting the Merit plugs I have on the ends of the bumper, the trailer plug and also the big Anderson plug I have for fitting my winch to the back. Seemed a pity to drill holes to a new bar but function is important.
I will post photos tomorrow as it is dark now. All up about 4 hours.
Regards Philip A
Funny the old bar cover was quite brittle on top where the sun got it but quite pliable underneath. It looks like the sun leached out the plasticisers. The inner bumper was in good nick but I cut it up and binned it.
