    Roof Rack Aeria.l

I finally installed the aerial on the roof rack and ran the aerial cable through the fire wall to the radio.
    aerial folded rot90.jpg
Here the aerial is folded down.

    aerial open rot90.jpg

    Here the aerial is open.

The aerial is on a bracket as I am inspired by BOM on you tube. The bracket can be removed from the roof rack if needed.

One problem, I tried to remove the exterior A pillar plastic bit. It would not come off. It was glued on with lots of silastic. I now need a new one. The aerial cable runs down here. A good opportunity to extend the breathers and put them behind the new A pillar trim, when it gets here.

    Broken Key in ignition

Two hours to get the broken part of the key out of the tumbler!

Had to drill out the cover and take out the ball bearing which just got in the way, hope that is not a security issue!!! There's a bloke who wont do a D2 again!!!!!

Now to charge the battery and get it started.

    External A Pillar trim Replaced

What a pain in the arse this was. I had to open the clips slightly to get them to seat. Before I could not push a screw driver in. I watched the Youtube video on how to install this. Simple enough, a couple of whacks with a rubber mallet. A rattling sound as some thing broke and fell down the A Pillar. The bottom and middle clips are in the top one broke, but with the trim clips in the trim is stable. The rivet that they supplied, snapped. I think it is a case of looking at a part and copying it, without the fine detail. The cheap snorkels re a case in point. The head part may or may not have the grooves cut in for water to flow out.

Ball joints and steering components today. Ball joints are fun.

I have heard of this, and seen it on yt, but it has never happened to me until today. Warming the swivel to remove the bottom one and it exploded. That was violent and scary. Drilled a hole in the others to allow for grease expansion. My son has quite a bruise, but it could have been much worse.

    Engine mounts tomorrow.

Glad to hear you are both well, that is scary.

How did the BJ's go with the other technique are you still talking hours or was this 'quick' so to speak?

Where did you track down the V8 Torque Convertor? I see the ashcroft website lists Nil Stock and proving hard to get.

Did you source your rebuild kit locally or O'Seas? I was under the impression the replacement parts for early ZF boxes were like Hens Teeth.

    Cheers.

Check the US, they only had V8's there and the D2 sold reasonably well.

You buy the 4.0 torque converter locally from wreckers or online ads, and order just the fitting kit from ashcroft.

The 4.6 larger torque converter doesn't fit in the td5 bellhousing.

I didn't feel the need for a tune to push it along either, and still don't after months of stop start city driving, I also put in the V8 transmission controller and enjoy clutch lockup at 60 km/h.

I've had a bit of a google about and I can find 2 different part numbers for V8 Trans Controllers, is there a specific unit I need to grab?
