So besides the obvious physical challenges like exhaust (Commodore manifold?), bell housing adaptor (Mark's 4WD?), peripherals (Commodore PS pump, alt, AC etc?), .... are you using stock ZF tranny and how do you get tranny, SLABS, BCU and LS1 ECM to talk to each other? My mind boggles. This is a 10 beer conversation at least!

I've been thinking about LS motor and to avoid all the comtrickery deleting ABS and SLABS and running True Trac diff centres instead, deleting tranny ECU and manualising the box, deleting BCU and running simple central locking system. Leaves me with speedo signal and emmissions compliance problems....and others which I haven't thought of yet.

Engine swaps on a D2 or p38a aren't actually that difficult that you need to destroy how the vehicle was.
The two tricks are to be able to replicate the crank angle sensor, which can be done with a reluctor wheel, amongst other methods. The other trick is using the original throttle position switch assembly, chop the old pedal off and install the new one but leave the tps connected. Doing both of these will leave you with traction control, abs, etc all working.
Eevo is running a manual, not a zf

Yeah I know, kinda runs contrary to owning a Disco but two live axles, helical diffs, AWD with locking centre diff, proper V8, manualised box, 1 computer, zero bull****. What's not to like?!

Matter of personal preference, I can't say I'm a fan of work that results in 'well this doesn't work anymore but that's okay'. It's a half done job to my way of thinking. But if you like what you like then good for you world would be a boring place if we all liked the same thing.

Plus I'd be annoyed by the Christmas tree on the dash, half the instruments not working, etc

Agree totally Any thing I do has to work in with features already installed, If its on the dash it has to work! Otherwise maybe a complete redo of the dash panel! having said that I have no probs with others building/replacing/improving?/enhancing to how they like it. Over the years of seeing street machine builds people do with cars I never cease to be awed.
