Help - D2 V8 water coming out of spark plug hole

    Hi all,

My 02 Disc V8 had an overheating misfortune, so I replaced the thermostat and hoses, but kept over heating, so I pulled the heads of and had them resurfaced ( which the cylinder head guy said had no cracking) and also fitted a new radiator,

On started up it ran like a dream but would slow get hot in the drive way, checking the temps on a Nanocom ( no hotter than 95 degrees before shuting it down) I tried everything to bleed the system to no avail, the heated would be cold each time telling me there must be something wrong with cirulation, but now it has started running rough at idle and slight motor lock up on start up and too my suspicion there is now water coming out of number of number 6 plug... dam it

any ideas? blown head gasket? pulled liner?

    thanks for any advise, Dean

I don't think there's any water galleries in the centre cylinders, so I would guess either shifted liner or cracked block.

Might have to pull the head , it really needs to be pressure tested, but yep could be liner , unfortunately
Eevo , something tells me its more than a thermostat problem

Yep I had the heads persurer tested when the heads were off and a new thermostat fitted then, does sound good.

whats involved with repairing or replacing a liner? is it a motor out job?

take the heads off, wrap them up nicely, throw the block in the bin.

yep. unless your willing to do most of an in frame rebuild and call in someone with some very special very expensive machining gear.

my advice is follow pedros advice, get a better cam stuck in while you're at it.

It's a motor out job. Only thing you can do is get top hat liners installed, though the state the block is in now, it may be beyond that.

thermostat problem will give you a flow issue and make it impossible to bleed.
if your suspecting a liner issue, pressure test the cooling system. it may help
