    throttle response question

    Hi again ,
On my transit van the throttle was horrible , a bit like the landrover
you need to squeeze 10 or so mm to get any response
The first 10mm does bring the revs up but you need to push 15 to 20mm before anything useful ,
Now with the transit i brought a little black box the went between the throttle and the loom ,, just made (electrically ) less travel (if that makes sense )
I know in low range the throttle is different (for better control ) i believe ...
Just wondering if there is any way to change this ,,

OK first off. Do you have a TD5?

If so, yes there are things you can do similar to what you have asked about but.......

First remove the sensor located in the centre top of the intake manifold. It is black and held in with 2X 8mm bolts / screws.

Clean the sensor with something, I have used spray can degreaser many times successfully. By the time you have finished you should see a tiny gold coloured hole in the bottom.

Put it sensor back in the intake manifold and go for a drive. I'll bet you will notice the difference. If you are still not satisfied with the result than go down the path of aftermarket stuff.

There are many places to go, many members have spoken to TD5 Inside more recently known as Performance Inside.

TD5 Inside can fix this issue for you. They did for me.

Correct. There are throttle maps inside the ECU which can be altered to change the ramp profile.
