    Ignition off, drumming noise

My 2003 Disco TD5 regularly develops a on-off "drumming" noise when I turn off the ignition. It stops if I turn the ignition back on. The deep drumming noise comes in 1-2-second bursts on and off about 5 times. Has anyone else encountered such a noise issue.

    Have you got air suspension?
Sometimes the air suspension can exhaust air after shut down.

Noise is coming from under the car. I have air suspension and often hear a hiss when ignition is turned off. This is a deep bass drumming noise.

Yes I have air suspension and often hear a slight hiss as the ignition is turned off. The worrying noise is a very deep base drumming sound.

Unfortunately even if it's not supposed to the compressor used to kick in after the ignition is off but as the valves are closed it makes a deeper noise than normal, it's a quite common SLABS ECU missbehaviour, remove the compressor relay before you turn ignition off and if the sound is gone you have the answer

This drumming noise, it it more like a deep farting noise, farting in spurts, (Air suspension) that's how I describe mine sometimes. When I pull up at a car park pedestrians always look.

It's not the centrifugal oil filter spinning down after engine shut-off is it ??

in mine its more like a groan similar to when handbrake is not fully applied on hill, if that makes sense, but it does not happen all the time.
    Cheers tt
