There actually is one that works, but it takes 200amps to operate.
Also I have seen centrifugal superchargers driven by an electric motor.
AFAIR AUDI have one model with an electric supercharger and turbo, the idea being to reduce lag.

The Audi one is just supplementing a regular turbo when offboost with the electric motor rather than using an electric motor as an outright drive for the turbo. Interesting that they havent put this thing into mainstream production yet.Quote:
