    There actually is one that works, but it takes 200amps to operate.

    Also I have seen centrifugal superchargers driven by an electric motor.

    AFAIR AUDI have one model with an electric supercharger and turbo, the idea being to reduce lag.

    The Audi one is just supplementing a regular turbo when offboost with the electric motor rather than using an electric motor as an outright drive for the turbo. Interesting that they havent put this thing into mainstream production yet.

    Equivalent to a Warn Himount but with twin Bow motors, prob 9hp ea and 24v put through them instead of 12v. The winch, charging system and batteries are probably half of the cost of the vehicle.

    For play, even a Warn Himount and Warn 6hp is bloody quick!

    Mercedes Benz has just announced a new engine family which includes an electric supercharger as well as a turbo.

    Yes they replace one turbo in a compound setup with an electric one to reduce lag.

    However it doesn'y use just a few amps like the ebay one at the start of this thread.

    did you guys ever see( actually HEAR) the WRC cars a few years back,, those huge backfires out of the exhaust?? Thats their way of keeping the turbos spooled up--

    Only works on petrol engines. Probably not street legal.
