    Britpart Oil Cooler Fittings

recently blew a transmission cooler return hose on the disco 2-td5 auto at the rubber hose crimp fitting which did a lovely job of spraying a couple of litres of tranny fluid over pretty much everything under then hood. Managed to limp back to base and ordered both feed and return hoses .... thought I might as well do both while I was at it. Spent quite some time fitting the new ones when they arrived (centre muffler out to assist with access) and cleaning all oil out of the engine bay area.
When fitting the quick release couplings on the cooler I noticed a definite click and was content with the connection. Dropped the trans pan and replaced filter and refilled with new Nulon Multi Vehicle ATF (fully synth and not particularly cheap ) When all finished I took the vehicle for a test run. Managed to get about 500m down the road before I felt the trans start to slip... pulled over straight away and had a quick look under the car only to see trans fluid pouring out again. Lifted the bonnet and once again trans fluid on and through everything. Could not definitely find where the leak had been (fluid dripping everywhere) but it seemed to be at either the crimped connection again (unlikely as it is a brand new hose) or the passenger side quick connect.
This is a new 'Britpart' hose (UBP101601 that supercedes the UBP101600) and I am wondering if the quick connect is faulty. Has any one else replaced this hose/s and had any problems with Britpart couplings?

Hi Brit parts are as I have been told on the main cheap Chinese rubbish and to avoid it at all costs. My car is a manual but I have bad nothing but problems with Brit parts I have found that if they came of e bay I tend to buy from Australian retailers as they tend to be more helpful.

from what I can see, the fluid discharge is coming from either the quick release coupling or somewhere on the cooler near the coupling.

anyone know what pressure I need to test the trans oil cooler at.... can't find anything in rave (TD5 auto)

.......or in my experience also cheap Indian rubbish. The only Britpart product that hasn't given me grief is the D2 Heavy Duty Rear Bar

I personally don't touch BritPart (Or Bearmach or Allmakesfor that matter) 'pattern' parts.

But I've never had any problems with their OEM parts.

Or ....... you may find that the new pipes are AOK and that the leak is from a fracture where the click on pipe is welded into the actual cooler matrix. Happened to me when I replaced cooler pipes.

^^^ +1 , reasonably common failure , can be rewelded and strengthened , just flush after welding with new fluid before fitting

    x 2.
Some times people are quick to blame a product when often there is something else causing the problem.
