Yea, ok. AFAIK all the Thors were identical, the ONLY difference between the two sizes were the crank throw and piston dish amount.
The only way (apart from aftermarket flat tops) to get an increase in comp (and you cant in the 4L without ^^) in the 4.6 was to run 4L piston/rod assembly.

ARP must not have realised that their kits shipped with a recommended 100lb torque in the instructions...

Here is ARP's email answer to me about 100lb of torque (I used 75lb):







"We don't sell or recommend head gaskets, no idea what is best for your application.

The final torque on the nuts for your application is 70 ft/lbs, see attached instruction sheet. If you torque the nuts to 100 ft/lbs you will probably break them all.

What I can say is that 1.5 years on and with plenty of k's and towing she is running like a dream. Very happy with the head studs and stock gaskets. Time will tell but I am hopeful. The truth is once minor mods have been made to run them cooler and head studs are used the Thor V8 is a set and forget motor. When not running LPG the coil packs and leads should easily go 100,000k and MAF 50k to 100k depending on what level of tune you are chasing and how keen you are on air filtration. Cheers

I'm using genuine head bolts not the studs.

I'd imagine the mech at LR did the same but to reduce the torque is interesting.

I'm using Victor Reinz gaskets.

Good to hear you are enjoying your handy work.

During the dismantle found the back LHS port with OAT present.

Do people think this is head gasket related.

No sign of steam cleaning and I did notice some OAT on the rear of the LHS head prior to dismantle.

isnt that the water port?

its pretty common for them to leak down the back of the block--
I know my two did,,,

I think so taking another look at it.

Possibly the source of the leak also. Bolts weren't overly tight.

The RHS does not look anything similar to it however I did notice an external leak on the LHS.
