    ACE System

Sorry for yet another thread from me but I am on a steep learning curve trying to get my lads D2 into a good condition!

The car is dripping oil and I thought I had isolated it to the power steering system. After 50km driving the power steering fluid level is unchanged yet the other side of the reservoir (passenger side of engine bay and rear-most part of the reservoir) is under the MIN mark. I now am thinking it is the ACE that is leaking. He came home with a burst radiator hose tonight so I cannot run the car whilst under it to see where the leak is until the hose is replaced.

Can somebody give me a 5c tour of how the ACE system works please? Plumbing, components etc.

I am looking in the RAVE CD I bought from here but cannot work it out yet.

You probably will find the hose banjo fitting on the Ace pump is leaking, check the hose fully in case it has rubbed on something and worn a hole
Also check the ACE ram at the front, Right hand side, they can leak there.
Also Under the vehicle is a plug that seals the ACE filter, this is not usually a leak point
    Cheers, Mario

You'll find everything about the ACE in RAVE - Workshop manual - Front suspension - Description and operation(second part)... what's important is to not drive it with empty tank cos the pump's lubrication is with that oil as well and if it runs dry the pump will get seized and cause all kind of troubles(snap the belt, etc) ...if the leak is massive in one of the pressure rams(pipes or actuators) remove the ACE relay(R14) and drive it so untill you fix it(top up the tank if needed) cos then the system goes into locked bars default and most of the oil will be recirculated between the pump and tank and you loose less of it

Re the Rams, it could just be the bolt needs tightening on the hose, with a bit of luck.
