    SLS playing tricks on me

Leave car at usual level, both bags sunk after 45 mins. Lift bags in 4wd mode, no sink nothing, sit perfectly inflated forever. Any ideas ?

Checked bags with soapy water and couldn't see anything. Stumped.....

The air must be coming out somewhere.
Given that it stays up in off road mode, this indicates the problem is in one or both bags. They seal when the fold is in another position i.e. off road mode.
Time for new ones I'm afraid.

The fabric in the bags is failing. If you take the bags off and immerse them in water whilst inflating them with low pressure you'll see micro bubbles. Replace them now. When extended the fabric seals better, so no bubbles. Been there; done that.

The leak is in the rolled edge of the bag. In Offroad height there's fresh material in the rolled section that's not normally rolled which hasn't stressed and developed a leak ... So no leaking ... And the old rolled section that does leak is no longer rolled so the leak seals up.

Thanks for the advice, looks like the jury has reached a unanimous verdict on this one !!

Better get some new bags asap. Any clues on how best to get some affordable replacements ?

Mario / Roverlord Offroad Spares on the forum. I think he does the Contitech ones.

I got Dunlops from Paddocks in the UK in 2010. Still in and going fine but when we got the KK 2yrs ago I bought a second pair as spares that are packed in the KK. 200-250kg ball weight insurance

The Dunlops are probably a bit cheaper but you have to wait for them ex UK. The Contitechs are possibly better quality ... but... my original factory Contitechs failed at 5yrs ... My Dunlops are into their 7th year. fwiw.

Well I bit the bullet today and bought some Dunlop ones, $350 for the pair. Went to fit tonight and had a spot of bother with my wheel nuts. I had some second hand Cooper AT3's put on recently and heck I struggled with all the wheel nuts even with an iron bar extender. Could not get the anti- theft nut off, it bent the Land Rover wheel nut tool and then split the adapter. What idiots they must have been putting the wheels back on.

With great difficulty and a bit of ingenuity knowing I only had one shot at it with the sledgehammer I got it to move and was able to get the bags changed.

It pis*ses my off when these wheel places do your nuts up so tight you have no chance of getting them off if you get a puncture away from home.

    Thanks for all the advice

Well done ! Now ... THROW AWAY THE LOCKING WHEEL NUTS ... and replace them with normal wheel nuts ... Keep the one on the spare.
