Smile Mods for Towing a Caravan

So I’m looking for some advice. I have a relatively un-molested 2001 Discovery 2 TD5 - Auto, the only mod is EGR valve removed.
I have just bought a caravan (2000+Kgs - Jayco Journey Outback pop-top) and will obviously be doing more towing. The car has 300,000kms+ with Full Service history. What mods should I consider?
My go to Mechanic thinks Auxiliary Auto transmission cooler and Chip to boost performance. Is the mileage on car an issue when considering boosting performance?
I would be very interested in people’s thoughts and ideas on this as I really have no idea.

Definitely a tune from td5inside and an egt gauge. If your going to be towing heavy loads then a transmission oil cooler is a must. And tow in sports mode. Also probably upgrade your exhaust manifold bolts. You don't want to warp the manifold. Make sure your radiator is in good nick. And a good set of intercooler hoses.

I also forgot to mention that mine has 350 000km on it now and it's still running great. The auto is showing signs of being a bit tired but still shifts good. Im running 23 psi, big intercooler, tune and hybrid turbo. Keep on top of maintenance and it will look after youMods for Towing a Caravan

Also tow in 3rd locked up for hills and slower cruising, this will reduce heat generated by the Torque Converter.

My d2a at 260000 odd kms tows a cub drover supermatic ball weight of around 175kg
mine has 32inch tyres a 2inch lift fitted poly airbags suit 2inch lift to cover ball weight
I tow in 3rd and don't even know it's on the back the disco loves it
I watch the egt gauge at steep grades and adjust driving to suit Egts
I only ever sit on 90/100 kph and get around 16-17/100 fuel economy towing the camper
