The black was going to be a little dark I felt, no pun intended.
The main issue we came across was felt is easily available in ample width.
Most other fabric including vinyl etc would be a very tight fit for width in a D1/2 and would likely involve in having to do in two sections which would require a seem or some sort of joiner. Apparently can be done.
I think I posted something on here a while back.
Not a hard job just time consuming, a little messy with contact adhesive and you need to be quick with the fitting once you start.
There are a few tutorials around.
Most motor upholstery suppliers will be able to advise. Look for a supplier of material rather than a upholsterer if you are going to do yourself. We got ours from a supplier in Welshpool.
    Hi CraigE,

Any chance you've got some pictures of your son's finished job?

Curious to see it in charcoal. Always fascinated by the little tweaks people make that in turn make the car truly theirs!

    Regards

Just posted a pic in my original post. Still need to source another set of nets, brittle as buggery.
Same with the plastic threaded clips for all that are held on with small nuts

    I like it!

Looking back, especially last night when I was taking photos for MK1, I'd agree the black is quite dark, hahah.

I was looking to replace my nets as well and had stumbled across some that looked like they could help but were priced rediculously.

The pricing put me off given you'd need postage and handling on top from the uk so I never bothered measuring but link below incase in might help you.

I do like the black too, we just decided maybe a little dark. The reason I have not bought new nets as they dont get used much anyway.

As said, the A pillars need to come off and just pull straight off.

Both of our D2 sunroofs are leaking. Both are leaking from the plastic part in the corner that the drain tube is connected to. The original glue/sealant has loosened allowing water to seep out all over. Somebody had also done a previous dodgy replacement to a tube that had cracked off. Also the seals must be pretty bad as using a hose on the roof caused water to heavily drip out around both sunroof motors.

Ensured all the drain pipes were clear. Resealed the plastic corner bits. Remade the broken drain tube. Putting in new seals. Should be good for a couple more years...

So there are no suppliers of original headlining? Will see what else if available.

I have mine lining off and all cleaned ready to go to the trimmers when i find one who can do it.
Like you Craig E i broke 3 studs on the net trims, I have some small countersunk wood screws that i will try in the hole in the broken studs packed with a thin ply washer i'm confident it will work.
My nets are good i will tighten the elastic up by undoing 1 crimped end and shortening the length buy 10mm.

Has anybody found a supplier for the cream christmas tree fasteners for the trim around the fixed rear glass. Champion have some but i have to check the size and colour.

I broke some of the studs on the net trip & simply glued them back with Q-bond. Magic stuff for repairing plastics.

If you have it cleaned and ready why not do it yourself? Not hard. Buy the lining, some contact adhesive spray or brush on (we used brush on) and a wall paper rubber roller.
    Cheers

Hi Craig, I am critical of my own work so i don't mind paying someone then i can whinge about quality of their work if it doesn't look the best, you must admit the shape on the Discovery hoodliner is a bit daunting for a novice.

I have been looking on the net for different types of lining as i'm not that happy with the look of the felt.

    Thanks Whitey
