Mine had the CDL retrofitted by Ritters. Part of that was a system which turned of the TC if, once low range is engaged, the car was turned off and back on. This also turned off ABS and HDC. Might be worth looking into if you're suss about the TC.
( I'm pretty sure the main purpose of this was to disable the ABS off road )

Yet again...
the early SLABs module regards the centre diff being locked on start up as a fault condition. As such, it throws the two amigos with ABS and TC operating at a reduced capacity. Snip the appropriate wire and this stops being a problem. If you're really set on it, you can stick a switch on this wire to allow you to control if the fault signal is received or not and therefore have a 'traction control off' switch, but I'd say this is a waste of time.
I had a Maxi drive locker and axles in my D2 after I fitted the factory CDL, fitted it myself, pretty easy job to do, I was going to fit a front locker also but never got around to it, best thing you can do to a D2 is fit twin lockers and the CDL.
Cheers Baz.

I do wonder about that. The early SLABS was made to act very aggressively due to lack of CDL to assist traction. With this unit a locked CDL would allow for aggressive application of same axle braking. Ie simulating a locker front and rear. Because the ETC does not retard throttle like in Japanese cars you can always overcome the aggressive program if you choose to by more throttle application. Cheers
I should have mentioned that my statement is valid for std dimension tyres, that's how mine is equipped with AT tyres and i went through a long muddy lane easyer than a friend with axie air lockers + cdl and big MT tyres cos he dug himself in mud while i went through it nicely keeping the revs constant... the TC in conjunction with CDL made perfectly it's job managed by the SRD000070, i didnt feel the need for lockers, not for a second, off course the bigger and aggressiver the tyres are the worst/less the TC will work then the axle locker become usefull.
Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned
Up until you lift wheels, TC and CDL, add ATBs into the mix and you've got a great combo. However for technical driving that will have you lifting wheels, lockers are far superior for controlled driving
D2A's have the CDL fitted standard and that always seems to work ok with the TC
A rear diff lock I think would be enough for places I want to go
Will also just have standard 16" All terrains on. Yet to pick some
I did a Pajero Challenge back in 99 in a 300 tDi Disco 1 with BFG All Terrains
The tracks were wet and crappy and with CDL in and tyre pressures at around 15psi we got through lots of tricky spots
